On the night of June 8th, 2024, the Enderun 2024 Senior High School Promenade, “Tan Hua: Witness Its Bloom,” took place. Held at the Fairmont Makati, its theme was inspired by the glitz and glamor of the beloved film— “Crazy Rich Asians.” The highest award of Prom Queen was shifted to the title of Tan Hua, referring to the Chinese idiom “曇花一現 (Tán huā yī xiàn),” which describes someone who has an impressive yet brief moment of glory—a nod to the flower of the same name. As Tan Hua is known to take a whole year to bloom and blossom for a singular night, the name is reminiscent of Batch 2024 in their ode to the swift but beautiful changes they experience. More so, it represents the vision that unfolded over the unforgettable night that symbolized the end of their school year.

The Promenade, in true Enderun fashion, was revered for its elegance, excitement, and memorable moments. All of this was possible through the guidance of Ms. Cherry Tan, Enderun SHS Principal, and the never-ending perseverance of the 2024 SHS Executive Committee. Led by President Paula Juan, the SHS Execomm meticulously organized the prom and ensured every detail was perfect. Through a short interview, the team revealed their desire to recreate the iconic wedding scene seen at the nearing conclusion of the film. With its cascading flora paired with iridescent lighting, the event’s seamless execution reflected the team’s hard work and dedication, making it a night for all attendees to remember.

Of course, the list of sponsors ensured the Promenade reached its ultimate potential. Design Room Manila provided exquisite decor, and for a delightful culinary experience, Hotpot Xpress delivered. Additionally, PL Juan Construction, Inc., Familia Fortich Jef Nuestra Casa, and a generous donation from The Nook by Armando contributed to the event’s overall success with their support. Special performances by the band— Camara and DJ KP kept the energy up with their classy but modern music takes. This upbeat combination of live music and DJ techno created an enjoyable atmosphere for all the SHS students. Still, the highlight production goes to none other than the selected student performers who brought on their infectious energy through a Tan Hua Dance Number and Cotillion.

As the conclusion neared, the evening was met with the very much anticipated awards ceremony, which recognized respective individuals in various, unique categories. The Promenade congratulated Jamie Choi and Mateo Raypon for winning the Best Couple Award. Serving the Stag and Doe of the night, the titles corresponded with the quintessential Ricardo Santos and Caemil Sunga. As for Alexia Pendor, she stunned her peers with her outfit of the night—bringing her to win the Best Dressed Award. The Prom Princess, who other than Yashika Chuttani and her Prom Prince—Aarv Aahuja? Last but far from the least, recipients of the night’s Promenade Queen and King went to 12B representatives Sofia Vicencio and Maor Barzilay, who were greeted by a responding round of applause.

Evidently, “Tan Hua: Witness Its Bloom” was a dazzling success. As the school year fleets, the 2024 Promenade encapsulates what it means to be an Enderun Titan in this era—honoring unending conscientiousness and generosity; the graduating batch offers future students pride to move forward. Though transient, this magical night remains beautiful through the fond memories Enderun SHS graduates will carry for the rest of their lives.
