Halloween Bliss

It’s October, and we’re a few days away from Halloween. Have you ever wondered what Halloween is? Halloween is a day when people get to dress up in costumes that express themselves. It’s also a day when people give out candies to kids and teenagers that love to trick or treat. Lastly, it’s also a time when some host Halloween parties and dance the night away.

We all look forward to October because it makes us feel like we’re one step closer to the Christmas season. This is also a month when people plan their Halloween parties and costumes; we also look forward to this month because people bring out their Halloween decorations and decorate their homes the way they want to. Aside from that, new releases of films and books also happen which makes people visit their local bookstores or even go online to buy the books that they’re interested in buying.

We can never forget the wonderful and memorable Halloween activities that we always looked forward to before the pandemic happened. Some of those activities are:

  1. Halloween Themed Parties

These parties are hosted by local establishments such as bars, restaurants, nightclubs, etc. You can even host one at your home. They also start either early at night or late at night, this usually depends on who the hosts are and what they can afford. There are so many different areas to plan for but some examples of the theme parties are:

    • Haunted House
    • Carnival
    • Witches Party

These are just a few examples of party themes that were used before the pandemic happened.

  2. Movie Night

Halloween movie night is a Halloween activity that I would always look forward to because there are so many films to choose from and one movie snack that I would always eat would be popcorn. I mean watching a movie at home or in a movie theater is also the best way to celebrate Halloween especially if a horror movie is showing. Some films that I highly recommend to watch alone or with your family and friends are:

    1. The Purge films
    2. Coraline
    3. The Conjuring films
    4. Insidious films
    5. Zombieland 1 & 2

These can be found on Netflix or you can use a VPN mobile app which can help you access different Netflix countries. You can also check your local cinemas on what movies they’re showing.

  3. Trick or Treating

Trick or treating is an outdoor event that people do during Halloween Day. Villages and apartment complexes plan this event so that people can show off their costumes while getting their favorite candies and food. This was also a great way to meet neighbors that you haven’t communicated with. Due to the pandemic, a lot has changed. Instead of going out and showing off our costumes, we show them off on our social media accounts instead. Virtual Halloween parties were also being held, and Netflix parties were the highlight as well since that was one of the ways we could connect with our friends. With that being said, since some countries have started opening up, I believe that the Halloween festivities will slowly come back. Lastly, The Island BGC is a nightclub in Bonifacio Global City that finally opened its doors to the public so hopefully they’ll have some Halloween parties that people will be attending with their friends but don’t forget to practice social distancing since we don’t want to have another rise of cases.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the costume ideas that people have thought of and one guess I have to make would be squid game’s tracksuit will definitely be one of the most worn Halloween costumes this year. One of my Halloween costume ideas would definitely be the squid game tracksuit since that Netflix kdrama really caught my attention. What are your Halloween plans, and what costume ideas do you have?
