It’s finally December, and here we all are putting up decorations, preparing the best banquet, playing Mariah Carey and Jose Marie Chan on repeat, and hunting for the perfect present. We have grown accustomed to these familiar activities once the “ber” months begin, and the Christmas fever doesn’t stop there. Thanks to the ever so handy-dandy Netflix, we are provided with movies and TV shows of all genres, even more, than the holiday season begins.

This form of entertainment has been a go-to filler for almost every mood or occasion. Now that Christmas is just around the corner, Netflix has been spoiling us with Christmas films that feature everything from the likes of romantic comedies, to family festivities. With that in mind, all of us are quick to press play whenever we see a Christmas film that sparks our interest.

If you’re suddenly in the mood to watch Christmas films and don’t want to waste time browsing through hundreds of trending films, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered. We have created a great list of Christmas films that are trending on Netflix for you to enjoy.

The Princess Switch
A baker from Chicago and the Duchess of Montenaro, who both look extremely identical, switch places, and the unexpected happens—they meet their significant others. With a touch of royalty guaranteed, you get two fairytale love stories unfolding amidst the white snow. A handsome baker, a charming prince, and TWO Vanessa Hudgens in one movie? Don’t mind if we do!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
We can’t forget our green friend, the Grinch. The bad-tempered and mischievous creature dreads Christmas and plans to ruin the holidays for everyone. But a little girl who believes in the spirit of Christmas might just be who he needs to soften his cold heart. This furry frenzy Christmas film sets out to show the true meaning of Christmas.

Holidate
In this romantic comedy, a single man and woman agree to be each other’s plus-ones during holiday events to save themselves from the judgment of their families. This dynamic duo will give you “I’ve got butterflies in my stomach” moments. Who knew Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey would make such a chaotic and entertaining on-screen couple?

Christmas Chronicles
In an attempt to capture Santa Claus, two siblings end up becoming partners with him as a mission arises. With reindeers and elves to complete their team, they hop on the red sleigh and venture out to save the holiday season just in time. Time to envision Santa Claus in a red cape!

The Knight Before Christmas
Another Vanessa Hudgens film won’t hurt, right? No handsome baker or prince charming this time, rather a medieval knight who time-travels to the 21st century to fulfill a quest. Despite the rather cliché trope of a woman who doesn’t believe in love until she meets the man who changes everything, this movie is still very endearing. I guess this is the perfect time to cue the song: It’s the Start of Something New.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
Adding a musical fantasy film to our list, Jingle Jangle talks about a once-joyful toymaker who lost his passion for making toys when his apprentice steals his secret recipe. This movie is the perfect Christmas tale: colorful, heartwarming, and magical. The stage, the cast, their voices, and most importantly, the story is what makes this movie a fresh Christmas classic that should not be missed this season.

Love Hard
Released only last November and placed as second on the top ten trending movies on Netflix in the Philippines, this movie shows the aftermath of dating apps. The ever-so-bubbly Nina Dobrev stars as an L.A. writer who travels a thousand miles to surprise her “perfect match” whom she met via a dating app. Just as interesting, you would want to binge on this wholesome romantic comedy this holiday season.

Home Alone
Let’s end the list with a crowd favorite. This movie was the golden egg back in the 90s, and it still shines even up to this day. Everyone’s favorite troublemaker, Kevin, gets left behind for the holidays and walks us through his day-to-day Christmas festivities of being home alone. And no, it does not involve Christmas shopping, but rather putting up a fight with two intruders. It’s the perfect family movie with thrill and Christmas action that will keep you entertained the entire night.

We’re only a few weeks away from Christmas, so why not start the month of December by watching these trending Christmas films? Netflix nights can be a great way to bond with your family and friends. You’ll be ending the night with tears, laughter, and high on Christmas cheer. Happy Holidays everyone!
