The Enderun Wishlist | The Longing Wishes of Every Titan

It may be a struggle to come up with a Christmas wish list because we tend to worry about judgment from others when we send it to them. Moreover, we are limited to doing so because of the pandemic. The majority of the things on our list can be a hassle to get in person and even online; everything may be sold out! Others may think that the things on their list are too expensive or what they want is odd. With this, I asked multiple Enderun students through a survey via Google Forms what they wanted for Christmas. I told them to be ambitious, to think outside of the box, and wish for something bigger even if it most probably would not be given. Their answers reflected their true wishes, as well as their authentic Titan hearts and traits.

It is usually felt that what we put on our Christmas list is only limited to material things. This is obvious mainly because we cannot wish for gender inequality to magically be solved. Taking initiative will always need to happen. Some Christmas wishes I was able to retrieve from the form are food, furniture, stuffed toys, stationery, clothes and accessories, pets, and books. These materials give us a glimpse of what we Enderun students prioritize and what makes us happy. The majority of these students wished for food and a happier year for everyone to experience, plus more school materials. This shows that we tend to prioritize exercising our creativity and intellectuality through reading within the company of highlighters and pets, which is the peaceful dream everyone would want. It’s like productive procrastination—resting without the guilt.

We, students, are far too ambitious to only wish for material things. Like every other human, we have wishes only our souls dare to dream of, but some part of us always deems them to stay buried in our heads because we believe they will never come true. Here lies the true heart and intention of the Enderun students, mainly, who answered my survey:

  1. Firstly and obviously, for the pandemic to finally end; where everyone can bond without any worries, especially with the people they find important
  2. Success in future projects with new opportunities to come
  3. For world hunger to be solved, and racism demolished. Hopefully, other social injustices can be solved as well if those wishes could be promised to come true.
  4. Peace, closure, and healing for those experiencing mental health issues and grief.
  5. For face-to-face classes to surely happen, without people feeling false hope about it anymore.
  6. To accept oneself and gain support from loved ones. Learning how to love ourselves and other people around us can not only help us reach our dream jobs, but it will give us the strength to persevere healthily especially during times of isolation.
  7. Lastly, safety and prolonged happiness are wished for, of course.

Each student that expressed their thoughts and true intentions resonates very strongly with the Enderun spirit. Despite the limitations we tend to face daily, may it be because of the pandemic, mental health issues, online struggles, etc., we still share one aspiration for the world’s society. That aspiration is to make sure everyone around us feels the unconditional love they deserve after all the troubles they have fought through during such trying times. We also incredibly wish for people to learn to the best of their abilities without having to feel constricted in the process. The school provides these welcoming environments, but they also offer more. Because of the communicative, compassionate, and outgoing teachers we have in this school, they are able to teach us how to reach our full potential intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Everyone is trustworthy. This means that the school is a very safe space for finding ourselves and for healing. The wishes above showed the selflessness of Titans; the aspirations for the betterment and growth of our society.

We also have the eagerness to expand our perspective. These can be seen through simply asking for a desk or a bookshelf to increase our means of healthy productivity. In the bigger picture, we also have the hunger to challenge ourselves so that we can reach the best version of ourselves all with the intention to heal and serve our community. We, Titans, make it a priority to provide calm yet productive spaces to learn from each other. Additionally, we create the most authentic bonds possible for our future success and present happiness. During our months of learning in this school, we are able to express ourselves freely. We learned to be honest yet kind, shy yet open, social yet efficient, and lastly, easygoing and productive. With these unique qualities, the Enderun spirit will never fail to be the voice to move people to create a positive impact in this world. Such can be seen through our organizations and their advocacies, even by simply asking us what we want for Christmas. Hopefully, most of the wishes enlisted here would come true. To ensure that would happen, take the initiative independently. Whether you are a Titan or not, do your part in making this world a better place for us and future generations.

Happy Holidays, everyone!
