Christmas in our Hearts

On December 18, 2011, Enderun Colleges welcomed members of the Gawad Kalinga community for a fun-filled Sunday morning. Hosted by the student government, each registered student organization was assigned to prepare an activity for the kids. The MPCC was certainly a sight to behold with an inflatable castle (sponsored by Enderun Extreme Sports), a game of catch-a-fish (sponsored by AIESEC), a variety of arts and crafts (sponsored by Cultura, the Enderun Junior Marketing Association, E Pair and Revelation), and other exciting games.

While the children ran from one station to another, the mothers were caught participating in activities similar to those found in noontime shows. A group of six women battled it out to demonstrate their best rendition of the “Dougie”. This activity was met with much laughter, enthusiasm and cheer from an active audience. The merriment amid the hustle and bustle further increased when a game of “Pera o Bayong” sent mothers flying from one answer to another.

As the day’s activities rolled to a close, it was capped off by Christmas carols from the different Gawad Kalinga communities and performances by UnderConstruction and the Enderun Pep Squad. The spirit of giving, sharing and spreading the love of Christmas was truly in the air as hosts and participants said their goodbyes and bid each other a good year ahead.

She enjoys writing because of its cathartic nature and how it can be used to relay her thoughts, feelings and ideas. In her view, the idea that great works of art can be created by the effective use of words demonstrates its simplicity, potency and beauty.
