Chinese Spring Festival 2013

On Feb. 1, 2013, just a week ahead of the lunar new year, Enderun capped off its World Week celebrations by hosting a traditional Chinese dinner. Held at the banquets tent, Cultura and the Enderun banquets class prepared a night of festivities and revelry.

The night solemnly began with the national anthems of the Philippines and China, followed by prizes for the brave souls who had their luck for 2013 predicted. Hosted by Mikel Jacinto and Bernice Uy in Mandarin and English, they took guests through each dazzling performance.

As the appetizers of fresh beans in garlic butter were served, a troop of Enderun students performed a traditional Chinese fan dance for a bewildered crowd. The appetizers were followed by the following courses: steamed lapu-lapu with oyster sauce, pata tim with cua pao, yang chow rice, monggo buchi in sesame seeds, and lychee with almond gelatin; hot Chinese tea was served throughout the night. As the courses were being served, the crowd was also entertained with song performances by Natalie Sze and Bernice Uy; and a Wushu demonstration.

The night was also used to honor the dean’s listers of Enderun’s first semester SY 2012-2013 students. For the College of Business and Entrepreneurship, certificates were awarded by Dean Edgardo Rodriguez; while Mrs. Ruth Hung did the same for the College of International Hospitality Management.

After the exemplary students of Enderun were awarded, the night’s events proceeded with traditional Chinese dragon dance, a ribbon and dance and more raffles and prizes.

She enjoys writing because of its cathartic nature and how it can be used to relay her thoughts, feelings and ideas. In her view, the idea that great works of art can be created by the effective use of words demonstrates its simplicity, potency and beauty.
