Enderun Colleges and Yeungnam University Launches Economics Programs

Enderun Colleges and Yeungnam University in South Korea aims to deliver leadership programs in international development management and community-based entrepreneurship through a full bachelor’s degree and professional certificate.

The two institutions launched the Bachelor of Science in Economics with specialization in Saemaul Undong and International Development Cooperation and the Certificate in Saemaul Undong and International Development Cooperation. These programs aim to train students in global practices in international economics and management, giving them a competitive advantage in the global career marketplace.

“Right now, we are known as a hospitality, business, and entrepreneurship school. And, I think it’s time that we focus ourselves on governance and how to help the country,” Enderun Colleges president Edgardo Rodriguez said.

Saemaul Undong or “new village movement,” is a collaborative, self-help political initiative launched by South Korean president Park Chung Hee in the 1970s to modernize the South Korean economy. Saemaul Undong focuses on improving the living conditions of people in the rural area, building infrastructure, and increasing community income.

Both programs will start this June.

Dr. Byeong Wan Lee, Head of Saemaul Studies and Global Economics at Enderun Colleges heads a series of seminars introducing the certificate program.
