TITANS WIN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ALL SPORTS
Lady Titans Basketballers Bedazzle the Bedans
The championship day started early March 16 with the Lady Titans Basketball Varsity bedazzling the Lady San Bedans of Alabang, thus winning the WNCAA championship 2019.
The Lady Red Lions of Alabang played a hard game, and they played hard to the very end, but they could not outscore our Lady Titans Basketball Varsity. The Titans scored 11 points in the first quarter before the Bedans swished the net, the distance becoming greater every quarter to the final 71-33 win.
The Titans showed their strength in rebounding, drive-ins and accurate shooting. The Bedans were tightly guarded by the Titans, thus keeping their score down. Gelli and Speedy Marcos kept the ball alive in the key, while Fayth Pumaren and Joylyn Pangilinan pumped in their jump shots from mid-court or drove in. Csareena Gonzalez surprised us with her aggressive drive-ins and mid-court shooting, and Geraldine Chapa even stole the ball! The second team played very well and scored in this game.
The lesson of this contest was that the Bedans never gave up and played their best all the way. Titans showed their sportsmanship after the game, acknowledging the toughness and grit of the Bedans.
Men’s Basketball Varsity Bows to CEU, wins WMNCAA first runner up
The Men’s Varsity Basketball had a tougher game against the chevroned Centro Escolar University, with their 7 foot center Diouf, who frequently tipped in missed shots of his team, aside from shooting his own field goals and foul shots. Our 7 foot Wabo had just come out of recuperation from injuries and was still healing. Chauca was also coming out of a shoulder sprain. These injuries gave several points to be scored by CEU’s drive-ins and mid-court jump shots. CEU has had some 5 years experience playing top league basketball. They played with this long experience which carried them through. While our Titan veterans are as strong—Titans defeated CEU a few weeks back—there are several new players this year.
In this game, the Titans sought three times to turn the score around and ran a hard last rally in the fourth period, but could not better the shooting of CEU. As the clock ran the minutes down, Titans tried to close the gap, but CEU kept on scoring until the final score: 68 to 55. Enderun was awarded WMNCAA First Runner up.
Lady Titans Volleyball Varsity gains repeat championship
Also in Rizal Memorial Coliseum that day, the Lady Titans Volleyball Varsity defeated San Bela Alabang, gaining the Women’s Collegiate Sports Association championship for 2019.
Jaimie Tiu received the best blocker award, and Ja Reyes got the best outside hitter award, and Chumcee Caole was awarded the best setter and MVP.
Titan Futsal Varsity wins Championships for 2019
At the University of Asia and the Pacific, both men’s and women’s Titan Futsal Teams brought home the championship trophies of their leagues. The Titan Ladies defeated Miriam College 2-1 in a very tight game, to win back the championship they lost last year. Our team also won significant medals with the MVP going to Nicole Ramores, while Joie de Luzuriaga and tiny Alex Fabros won the Mythical Five medals.
The Men’s futsal team also won back their championship, both teams bringing home the precious crown!
