How to Make Valentine’s Day at Home Meaningful
Planning for a great Valentine date can be stressful, more so during this pandemic. Lucky for us that this year’s Valentine’s Day lies on a Sunday. We can laze around in our pajamas all day while doing different activities together. I have listed 10 activities that you can do with your loved ones for the whole day.
- Serve breakfast in bed
Start the day with some healthy meals to fuel your energy for a full day of activities. Surprise your loved one with some pancakes or waffles with fruits and OJ or coffee for breakfast.
- Exercise together
Spend your mornings with some exercise. For those who are married, you can do couple’s yoga or work out together. You don’t even have to go to a gym to exercise. You can just search for yoga and work-out routines online and do it together.
- Have a cook-off or a bake-off
Make your lunch more exciting by organizing a short cook-off or a bake-off challenge. You can compete with each other on who makes the best lasagna or who can make the best dish with just 5 ingredients. You can personalize your own challenge that suits you and your loved one the best.
- Have a movie marathon together
Both of you are probably tired from all the cooking, laughing, and cleaning you did after the cook-off. Relax for the afternoon, bring out the popcorns and soda, and watch a movie together.
- Make a DIY project together
Have a keepsake of this day by creating arts and crafts. It doesn’t have to be pretty. What matters most is that you’re both enjoying it. You can simply look around your house and recycle or repurpose something. You can turn old socks into hand puppets or put some cotton and turn it into a doll.
- Watch the Sunset Together
And of course, a good ol’ romantic sunset viewing from your rooftop or balcony or even your window should not be missed. Watch how colorful the sky can be.
- Order Take-Out for Dinner
Now, you’re probably too lazy to make dinner. You can just order your favorite dishes from your favorite restaurants without too much effort. You can laze around and not worry about cooking or even washing the dishes.
- Game Night
Dinner would not be fun without some games! You probably have some old board games hidden somewhere in your house collecting dust. Now is the time to bring it out and have some fun. Imagine playing a classic Monopoly game in your pajamas while eating take-out. Who said this can only happen in movies?
- Have a Bonfire in Your Backyard
Prepare some marshmallows, and have a private bonfire by your backyard or balcony or even in your kitchen. It doesn’t really matter where as long as you can enjoy some burnt sticky marshmallows.
- Listen to your Favorite Songs
End the night with chilling and listening to your favorite songs. Appreciate and enjoy each other’s company. Perhaps, you can even dance or have some heart-to-heart conversations while music is playing in the background.
A perfect Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to be expensive gifts or grand gestures. Appreciate the simple things in life because even the simple things can make a lasting impact. I hope by spending the day and doing all these simple activities, you can be reminded of the love that’s overflowing in your life.
Enjoy the day and appreciate each other.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.
