Enderun Alumni Restaurant is Best Steak Place of 2013
Looloo, a popular establishment review and networking app for mobile devices, recently named HaiChix & Steaks as one of the Best Restaurants in the Metro for 2013 based on customer reviews.
HaiChix & Steaks is the result of the partnership between fellow Enderun Alumni Joma Tuaño and Ferdie Agustin with their first restaurant opening in the Ortigas Home Depot compound. Their passion for good cuisine and love for both steaks and Asian dishes, particularly Hainanese Chicken, gave birth to the aptly named establishment. The restaurant serves high quality dishes with big servings without the steep prices.
Power to the People
Looloo was founded by Odell Ramirez, with the goal of developing a way for Filipinos to “discover the best dining, entertainment, and travel destinations within Metro Manila.
Users of the Looloo iOS app can review any of the places listed in app’s place database. Its default setting detects nearby places for the user to review but a search function is available as well, should users decide to submit reviews for places not within their immediate vicinity.
The app has been featured in nationwide publications and news outlets, both online and offline, such as The Philippine Star, ABS-CBN News, GMA News Online, Yummy Magazine, Appetite Magazine, FOOD Magazine, and Esquire Philippines.
As of June 2013, looloo had more than 50,000 registered users and exceeded 50,000 user-submitted reviews. It was ranked as the no.1 most downloaded free app under the Food & Drink Category in the App Store (iOS).

Being the best means you are not the best
In an interview with Chef See Cheong Yan, Culinary Head of Enderun Colleges, he advises alumni and anyone who ventures into any business to always stay relevant. ” They (Joma and Ferdie) have gotten it to a tee, a way to perfect the cooking each time unlike other steak houses that are hit or miss” says Chef See. “The challenge is to constantly stay relevant, to stay on top. Thank the people who enjoyed your dishes, be happy with it, and continue improving to be the best because you should never admit you are the best”.
Chef’s See’s word of advice reflects the philosophy of his culinary program at Enderun which he implements with the help of Ducasse Education in France. It teaches students to always have the passion, rigor, and drive for excellence even with the simplest of their techniques. As what Alain Ducasse said during his commencement address in Enderun’s graduation ceremony in 2013, students who constantly practice their craft are sure to become a success.
Looks like Joma and Ferdie took this advice to heart.
