Enderun Colleges will host the final round of “The Next Bright Idea 2” on January 18, 2014 to be held at the Titans Hall from 8:00AM to 2:30 PM.
“The Next Bright Idea,” first held last year , is an elevator pitch competition for high school students and serves as venue to motivate young students with ambitions in entrepreneurship. “The contest is all about encouraging these high school students to think about entrepreneurship, even at their age,” stated Mr. Wilson Gan at an interview with entrepnew.com
The finalists going head-to-head this year are Grace Christian College, Seed Montessori, Elizabeth Seton Las Piñas, Montessori de Manila, De La Salle Santiago Zobel, St. Paul College Pasig, British School Manila, and Don Bosco Mandaluyong.
Last year, Xavier took home the Php 50,000 grand prize for their project idea named “K9” – an application for smartphones which enables the devices to track the owners’ lost items through “scents.” 2nd place was grabbed by Miriam College High School for their pitch called the “X-Pen” – a pen that functions as a Post-it dispenser and flashdrive at the same time. 3rd place went to British School Manila for the “Spark Step” concept where the shoes would have a built-in kinetic renewable energy that can be used as a portable mobile charging device.
The “”Next Bright Idea 2” competition consists of 3 rounds. The first stage involved establishing a team of 3-5 members, which needed to attend a master class before submitting projects to help in the development of business concepts. Stage 2 involves the submission of a expanded project description, which was judged based on feasibility and potential of the project. The last stage is the elevator pitch- where teams are given 3 minutes to present a summary of their project to a panel composed of possible investors, academics, and business executives.
