Chaos, Fun And Learning the Enderun Way
”Welcoming the High School students and Freshmen during their orientation was a great experience! I had fun and I know that the new students had fun as well because of their hard laughs and winning smiles. I hope they will look back at that day and want to relive the same kind of feeling by becoming a Facilitator for the next incoming high schoolers and freshmen in 2018” —Joylyn Pangilinan
August 14, the beginning of the first semester 2017-2018, was a big day for Enderun, which welcomed not only the hundred plus new college students, but also and for the first time, 44 new senior high school students! To mark this occasion and assist the younger students in adjusting to college life in Enderun, our upper classmen organized a special welcome and orientation day.
Volunteer students worked as facilitators to orient the new students to Enderun life, mapping the campus, advising on the rules and regulations such as wearing the uniform, behavior in class, use of the library and facilities. They also gave encouragement to joining sports teams.
These were not classroom lectures. The sessions were cleverly ‘played’ through a series of games and competitions, everyone on a first name basis, though the upperclassmen were addressed respectfully as Kuya and Ate.
”My faci babies were a bit quiet and shy at first, but afterwards they found themselves at ease and started telling me and my two faci groupmates stories, and asked us questions about Enderun, the subjects, and even the professors. I feel very fortunate to have been able to meet new faces and help the new students as they start a new chapter in their lives. The orientation did not only help the freshmen know more about the school, but they also had the chance to gain more friends. Friends who aren’t only from their batch, but from the upperclassmen as well who can lend them a hand whenever they are in need.” —Kirsten Francisco
“The chaotic laughing and jostling led to an initial bonding among students of all levels, and perhaps also inspired many neophytes to become facilitators for the next batch of newbies! If given the chance, I would like to be a facilitator again in the next new students orientation and make them feel the Enderun spirit.” — Kirsten Francisco
