COL Financial: Don’t be afraid of buying stocks
by Sean Dominise
Statistics show that households in Metro Manila have a rate of less than 1% that own stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or government securities. Most people are not even aware of this and how important it is to invest and own stocks and bonds.
Last October 11, 2017 from 1:00-2:30PM at the Old Library, Enderun Colleges, led by the Leadership Program, welcomed Mr. Jed Velarde, a stock market investment advocate at COL Financial, the leading and fastest-growing online stockbrokerage firm in the Philippines. Mr. Velarde was invited for a Stock Market Investing Strategy talk where he discussed how to invest and buy stocks as early as possible.
During the first few minutes of his talk, Mr. Velarde mentioned that saving money is not enough. Money appreciates over time and it will not have the same value in the future which shows the importance of investing and buying stocks to increase your current money’s value in the future. He quoted “Wag matakot” or “Don’t be afraid” when it comes to buying stocks despite the net loss that happens at the beginning. Statistics show that the longer you buy stocks, the higher the increase in your money’s value in the future.
Despite having limited time for question and answer, the talk was a great eye-opener for those who were not aware on how to invest and buy stocks. It helped increase awareness of how important it is to invest as early as now. The talk also gathered forms for students necessary to invest and buy stocks through COL Financial as a head start.
Mr. Jed Velarde hopes that the Enderun students would gain more in the future after he has shared his knowledge about the stock market.
