Enderun Erects its Annual Eco-Friendly Christmas Tree
Manila, Philippines – Enderun Colleges has officially welcomed the holiday season with the unveiling of this year’s sustainable Christmas tree in a lighting ceremony held on its campus grounds last November 23.
This marks the third year in which the institution has organized the tree lighting event. As in the previous years, the tree is a product of a collaborative effort. It featured eco-friendly materials –the sawili and bamboo used in the main body were sourced sustainably –while the ornaments were made by GK community members as well as Enderun students using plastic bottles.
The lighting ceremony itself served as a celebration of community and togetherness. Various messages were delivered by key figures such as Mr. Edmond P. Maceda, Enderun Colleges’ Sustainability Director; Dr. Edgardo Rodriguez, Enderun Colleges’ President; and Ms. Debbie Uy-Rodolfo, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines’ AVP for Customer Services & Corporate Communications.
“Our annual SustainabiliTree Lighting Ceremony is meaningful in many ways,” Director Maceda shared after the event. “Aside from being held on Thanksgiving, it also coincides with National Climate Change Consciousness Week and National Environmental Awareness Month. Most of all, it marks the anniversary of our sustainability journey at Enderun and inspires us to do greater things moving forward.”
The occasion also celebrated the other significant milestones and achievements that Enderun has reached this year. Some of these include Enderun’s transfer of ownership to Udenna Corporation, Enderun winning the 2017 Award for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools, and the domination of Enderun students in competitions like Chef Wars 2017, the Philippine Marketing Association’s STRAMARK 2017, and the 2017 Young Entrepreneurs Week competition.
To cap off the night, children from Tuloy Foundation serenaded the guests with carols and other Yuletide favorites. Tuloy Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides residential care and comprehensive educational programs to street children, and is another one of Enderun’s partner communities.
