Elegantly titled, this cookbook expresses the Enderun objective to attain the most urgent of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals: end hunger.

The title is also the name of the NGO, Rise Against Hunger, that feeds thousands of hungry Filipinos by preparing nourishing rice packs. These are distributed at key points in less privileged areas of the big cities of the Philippines.

Ending Hunger Together dynamizes the partnership of Enderun through its student organization Culinaire with this SDG oriented NGO by providing nourishing and delicious recipes to be prepared with these rice packs. The dishes can also be cooked at home for hungry students and daily workers. Respecting Rise from Hunger’s policy to keep costs down, the recipes are composed of low cost ingredients — a mouth watering kalabasa soup accented with a hint of stewed shrimp;  scrap na ginisang monggo; sautéed bangus with native petsay and rice; chicken and rice curry, even classic arroz caldo. Recipes were composed by Enderun Culinary students Arveen Serrato, Tsina Ong, Jericho Palomo, Arana Gregorio,  Gian Aquino,  Patrizza Fadul, Martin Visbal.

It is an excellent gift for Christmas and to spread the word about ending hunger. “We figured this only as a low cost method to support our work of cooking and distributing rice packs. We weren’t thinking strictly of a publication, we made only a few hundred copies,” said Jomar Fleras, Director of Rise Against Hunger.

We should print more copies.  “This can sell in our bookstore and we can put it online!” Suggested Dean Ed Rodriguez, President of Enderun Colleges.
