Enderun students win at the 2019 Young Talents Escoffier

On May 29, 2019, Enderun Colleges students won awards in the 9th year of the Philippines Final Selection for Disciples Escoffier Young Talents Escoffier (YTE). Enderun Colleges Culinary Arts student Ria Garcia won second place while Don Patrick Baldosano was hailed the champion of the competition. Ria Garcia shared that, “The chefs and the staff in Enderun have always been supportive whenever we join a competition and I have always been grateful for everything that they have done to help us. We would practice everyday, from morning until night, always providing us with the best training and knowledge to prepare us for prestigious culinary competitions such as this.” According to champion Don Patrick Baldosano, “I am very happy and proud to represent the Philippines in the competition in Hong Kong. I’m learning a lot from my Enderun mentors and I intend to use the knowledge and expertise I have gained throughout my years of training in the school.”

The Young Talents Escoffier competition aims to encourage and promote the culinary expertise of young Asian chefs in the tradition of Disciples Escoffier International by exposing them into a competitive environment, and to offer them the opportunity to showcase their talents and their creativity. The champion will represent the country to the Young Talents Escoffier (YTE) Asia which is an annual competition gathering 10 young culinary talents from Asian delegations under the age of 25 years with less than five years of kitchen experience or students of culinary schools. This year’s regional competition will take place in Hong Kong.

Present during the competition were the panel of judges, namely, Disciples Escoffier Philippines Delegation Founding Chairman Philip John Golding, Misern Plus Foods Owner Chef Bruce Lim, Bistro Group of Companies Corporate Chef Josh Boutwood, Discovery Primea General Manager David Pardo de Ayala, Le Cordon Bleu-Ateneo de Manila University Technical Director Thierry Le Baut, Restaurateur and Chef Extraordinaire Monsieur Victor Magsaysay, Ferdie Salvador of Bon Vivant, Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Marvin Agustin, Award-winning Host Issa Litton, Award-winning Book Author Edith Singian, HIDA President Javier Gamboa Gil De Sola together with Disciples Escoffier Philippines Delegation Chef Sau Del Rosario.

According to Enderun Colleges Culinary Head Chef Cheong Yan See, “We are very proud of our Enderun students who train day in and day out to win these culinary competitions. Here at Enderun Colleges, we make sure that they apply best practices in everything that they do during the process of preparing all the dishes, be it in a regular class or participating in activities outside the school.”
