Enderun recognizes a new batch of Tuloy Foundation culinary scholars
On July 12, 2019, Ducasse Education at Enderun Colleges recognized a new batch of Tuloy Foundation culinary scholars. After months of training, Enderun Colleges Culinary Head Chef See Cheong Yan and Tuloy Foundation President and Project Director Fr. Marciano “Rocky” Evangelista, SDB, presented the 16 graduates with their certificates in a simple ceremony held in the school.
Last November, Enderun Colleges once again brought Chef Alain Ducasse as Guest of Honor in a dinner event for the benefit of Tuloy Foundation. Entitled Harvest of Hope, the fundraising event showcased Philippine products and raised over PhP7.5 million in donations.
Learning about another batch of culinary scholars graduating, Enderun Colleges President Edgardo Rodriguez said that, “Almost each year, we train a set of Tuloy scholars and it is both humbling and joyous to see them bloom in their chosen careers afterwards, whether here or abroad. Enderun Colleges and Ducasse Education are proud to be part of the journey of Tuloy Foundation’s culinary scholars and we are committed to continuously provide them with quality education to succeed in the hospitality industry.”
“All the Tuloy scholars genuinely went through the program and learned from the best chef instructors of Enderun Colleges and Ducasse Education. I greatly encourage them to continue building a better future for themselves with the same spirit and enthusiasm that they had when they first started to train here,” shared Enderun Colleges Culinary Head Chef See Cheong Yan.
Tuloy Foundation President and Project Director Fr. Marciano “Rocky” Evangelista also gave advice to the graduates, “You can be more than what you think you can be, do not put limits. We have a dream for you and that dream is beginning to fly. Soar high like an eagle.”
To-date, the Youth With A Future initiative has produced 46 graduates. All 30 past scholars have flourishing careers worldwide: one is working in the prestigious Ducasse Sur Seine, a river cruise and restaurant boat in Paris, France, one is in Benoit New York, four are employed in Four Seasons Resort Dubai, one will be in Finland starting in August, two in Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, eight in international shipping lines, and 13 are placed in reputable restaurants in the Philippines. The 16 new graduates will undergo internships and will then be placed in jobs through Enderun’s Career Services Office and industry partners.
As one of the leading culinary institutions in the country, Ducasse Education Philippines at Enderun Colleges continuously lends the expertise of its world-class chef instructors to beneficiaries of Tuloy Foundation, an organization that provides shelter and education to former street children. The project, Youth with a Future, aims to support and provide educational scholarships and job placements every year to a select group of culinary students of Tuloy Foundation.
