Internship FAQS Part 2: Interviews and Curriculum Vitae
“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.” – Seth Godin
With the online setting, I noticed how a lot of students are afraid and hesitant to take their internships, and that includes me. I heard how students wish they could travel to take their internship and gain on-hand experience, how they’re hesitant because they think they are not yet ready, and how they hope for everything to go back to normal again. But don’t you worry because online or not, the Office of Career Services is always there to guide us. They always make sure that all of our questions are answered and that we go through the right process. In our first internship FAQS article, we covered the overview seminar and the process of applying for an internship. With that, we are back with another Internship FAQs article to enlighten students taking their internship!
I recorded a Spark hire video for my first internship. Do I need to make another one for my 2nd internship?
For those who do not know what a Spark hire video is, it is a one-way interview which enables you to answer text or video-based questions on your time. Yes, you do need to record another video for your second internship and should include all your experience from your first one. In addition, the questions you need to answer for your Spark hire video for your second internship are different from the questions for your first internship.
Do I need to wear my school uniform in the Spark hire video? What if I do not have a uniform yet?
Do not worry because you can wear a different blazer but avoid wearing casual clothes. What matters is that you are dressed in corporate attire when recording your video so that you can make a good impression. Men should wear a blazer, polo shirt, and tie while women should wear a blazer and a blouse.
I already submitted my CV and cover letter to OCS when I applied for my first internship. Do I need to submit this again for my second internship?
Of course, if you are applying for your second internship you should update your CV to include your experiences from your first internship. This would give the company an idea that you already have experience in a working environment. Always remember to update your CV.
I’m planning to outsource my internship. Do I need to submit all of the internship requirements like CV, cover letter, Sparkhire video, etc.
Yes, even if you plan to outsource your internship you have to submit the requirements so that the OCS can help you in updating your CV, writing a cover letter, and developing the proper interview skills.
I only have two subjects left, Internship 1 and an academic subject, and I want to graduate already. Can I take both subjects in one semester?
Unfortunately, no. If you want to take your internship first you can only enroll for the internship subject. You cannot take both in one semester because you need to focus on your internship.
I’m done with all academic subjects and I only have my two internships left. Can I take them together?
Nope. You cannot take both internships together. This is the reason why there is an ideal time to take your internship while you are studying in Enderun. It’s better that you take your internships in two different companies and departments so you can experience a variety of work. For your first internship, it would likely be an entry level position for new graduates while for your second internship it would preferably be a supervisory position.
A reminder, whether you are applying for internship 1 or 2, taking the overview seminar is always the first step. Should you have any concerns regarding your internship you can schedule a consultation with the Office of Career Services!
Here’s how to schedule a consultation:
- Proceed to their Facebook Page and click “Book Now”
- Select Service by ticking the box beside “Consultation”
- Select your intended date and time.
- Add a brief summary of the purpose of your consultation under “Appointment Notes” and click “Request Appointment.”
- Wait for OCS to confirm your requested appointment! Please give them 2-3 business days to confirm.
