Enderun Recognizes the Next Bright Idea 7 Grand Champion
Enderun Colleges hailed a new grand champion during its annual The Next Bright Idea business pitch challenge. Held last February 26 at The Tent of Enderun Colleges in Taguig City, the finals event awarded Jeemo, the team from Saint Jude Catholic School.
Now on its seventh year, The Next Bright Idea is a competition organized by Enderun Colleges for young aspiring entrepreneurs in high school. Teams of 3 to 5 students are tasked to come up with their respective business ideas and present a three-minute elevator pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience.
Prior to the pitch, the teams were required to attend an Entrepreneurship Master Class moderated by seasoned professionals and mentors from Enderun. There they learned the ropes on how to create and execute their business proposals. Once the sessions were done, all teams then moved on to the next round, where the faculty of Enderun’s Business and Entrepreneurship Departments weighed the feasibility and potential of each submitted project and voted on the most promising ones. The 14 teams who made the shortlist were the ones that competed in the finals.
This year, the team from Saint Jude Catholic School took home the crown with their project called Jeemo. Following the competition’s theme aptly titled, “Hello, Tomorrow: Creating a Brighter Future for Filipinos”, Jeemo team featured a portable device capable of reducing air pollution by 90% through the collection of soot, a waste product of vehicle engine combustion that is responsible for lung diseases. Teams from Singapore School Manila (Cleanflux) and another one from Saint Jude Catholic School (Mr. Bin) placed as first runner up and second runner up, respectively.
As champions, the Jeemo team received a trophy, medals and a PhP50,000 cash prize. Meanwhile, runner up teams received PhP20,000 and PhP10,000 cash prizes, respectively. All three winning teams are also entitled to attend three sessions of the Enderun Incubator Program – which consists of a group of Entrepreneurship professors and students, who help share and instill the entrepreneurial mindset and spirit to others by offering services such as mentorship, consultancy, and market research and validation through a customer-centric and value-focused approach.
