Cultura Pilipino 2012

A fiesta-like atmosphere engulfed the Multi-Purpose Court (MPCC) last August 25, 2012. It was a Friday night and the student body was ready to kick the weekend off to a great start with Cultura Pilipino. Conceptualized by Cultura, this event is regarded as an annual tradition that students look forward to during the month of August.

Upon entering the event area, the first thing that got everyone’s attention was the band; they were jamming to Filipino songs – the type that makes you want to sit back and reminisce the good old times with your “barkada.” The rest of the night offered an interesting mix of well-loved favorites such as the much awaited boodle feast, traditional Filipino games like pabitin, and a variety of performances. A group performed the Tinikling dance and asked some people from the audience to join them. Another performance was made by Anyo, as well as a student from Mr. Jun Talegon’s Filipino class. Her monologue received a lot of praise from the crowd since it was a modern and creative way of portraying nationalism for our motherland.

The MPCC turned into a runway towards the end of the event. The fashion show showcased Enderun students wearing traditional Philippine garments. Among the models were Michael McDermott, Mara Yee, and Maria Angela Go.

The host of the event, Sheila Garces, concluded yet another successful and signature Cultura event.

Writing is her personal stress reliever. She can't imagine a life that prohibits her from fully expressing herself. Aside from the fact that writing allows her to air her views on various topics, it also helps her widen her perspective of the world and the things life can offer.
