All Aboard the 2015 Academy Ball
For many of the attendees, it was their “first and last time.” Upon hearing that, it leaves one with mixed emotions – the high and excitement of it being the first, while there’s the downside that it might not happen or be experienced again. Nonetheless, smiles and laughter were pretty much all one could see throughout the event.
The Academy Ball has been an Enderun tradition of Cultura (one of the school’s student-run organizations) since 2011. This being the 5th one, the Cultura executive committee, an awesome team consisting of Bea Ibarra, Stephanie Espino, Sam Mayuga, Korina Bilae, Francis Mesias and Patricia Lopez, decided to change things up a bit. Instead of holding the ball at a hotel ballroom, guests enjoyed the al fresco ambience at the Manila Yacht Club on the evening of February 21, 2015 in sync with the 6th World Pyro Olympics – the exhibition of Mexico and The Netherlands.

Everyone enjoyed the musical performances of Jeric Medina, the Guico Twins, Patricia Ty, as well as some open mic performances by the attendees themselves. There was dancing, singing, and merry-making, not to mention the funny anecdotes and side comments by hosts Mikel Jacinto & Kevin Abuedo. Raffle prizes were also given out, courtesy of Luxent Hotel, the Frap Bar, Cadbury, Anytime Fitness, Grab Taxi, Via Mare and Tea Monkey.
But the highlight of it all, apart from enjoying the night with friends and receiving all those prizes, was the yacht cruise that each guest had the privilege to experience. An hour afloat the Manila Bay was a first for many – hopefully not the last. It was a great night indeed!
