A Quick Peek To the World of Enderun Hult Prize
Every organization has a vision and mission that serves as a guide to achieve their collective goals. Without it, it is vulnerable to failures due to the lack of a clear path to success. As a result, success is nearly impossible.
That being said, on September 23, 2021, one of Enderun Colleges’ student organizations held an online general assembly for its current members and new aspiring students who wanted to be involved in the organization. The Hult Prize at Enderun Colleges is one of the newest organizations on campus, and it aims to be a tool for changemakers who want to contribute to the betterment of the world and support the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. The event was led by its very own President and former Campus Director of Hult Prize at Enderun Colleges, Mikaela Lopez. It also included current members and officers of the organization, as well as prospective hopefuls interested in joining. The event aims to refresh the background of the Hult Prize and further discuss the purpose of its existence.
A short cartoon film by Dr. Seuss was shown on screen at the start of the event, discussing how life’s challenges and our decisions can affect our success. Following that, the attendees took part in an icebreaker game with the organization’s officers. The game served a dual purpose: it was a kind of entertainment as well as a means of introducing and getting to know the structural organization. New guidelines and perks of joining the organization were also discussed during the assembly to encourage members and aspirants to participate actively. This year, Hult Prize at Enderun Colleges has opted not to hold its annual competition in order to focus on building a strong foundation for the organization and connections within the group. Testimonies from last year’s winner of the competition, namely Renzie Enaje, Erwin Santos, and Pearly Magto, were also present to share their experiences, what they have gained in joining and how the competition made an impact on their lives. As part of the group’s goal to get to know each other well, a mingling session was conducted through a breakout room.
Overall, a significant lesson that can be learned from this event is the importance of laying a solid foundation within the group before attempting to build others that are outside of the organization. Without a solid foundation, the chances of creating anything of value are minimal. An organization must form a strong foundation because it can define its success and it will not easily break when a great challenge occurs. Building a strong foundation can help the organization last for years to come while continuously being successful with its purpose. As author MJ Moores once said, “Build a strong foundation and you can reach even the unthinkable heights.”
